A Summary
The Glass Castle is a memoir of the life of Jeannette Walls. It gives us a life story of her life from her first childhood experience written in the book being the fire that caused her disfiguring burn. From that point on we learn of all the different places she has lived in and the different stories from each place. Later we observe her moving to New York and escaping the alcoholism driven father and the do--nothing mother. At this point there are less entries about her life and we start to see the decay of the family structure progressively as things get worse. But towards the end we see that the Walls family manages to stay intact for the most part.

Setting PictureFor a picture I chose New York City, I chose this because this represented freedom and escape. In this setting the Walls children really thrived and did much better as a whole. You can see this by the amount of individuality and security most of the children had. Another reason whhy this is such a good picture to describe this book is because this in essence was the "Glass Castle", it was the freedom and resolution to the family's troubles. It was the solution to their living conditions and social issues.

Blog CommentsThese screen shots are depicting my contributions to the blog along with some of my ideas throughout the book. I felt that the questions asked by the teacher leading this book were very well structured and well organized questions. I also wish to comment that most of the responses were fairly good, sadly participation seemed to dip as the blog went on.
